happy birthday malia and kina

My little girls are one year older! Malia is two and Kina is one, they are four days less than a year apart. I love it - joint everything!! ha ha. Friday was Kina's birthday and yesterday was Malia's. Last year, Kina was in the hospital and I was recovering from labor for Malias birthday and we didn't really do anything, so I wanted to make sure we remembered the day this year. They both enjoyed their cupcakes!

I love my little girls! I can't believe how fast they are growing. It was a somewhat difficult year for me - with two little girls so close in age and all of Kina's early heath issues, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I've definitely "had my hands full" (as many random people in any public area will tell me after seeing me carrying two babies), but I've been so blessed. I love seeing them grow up together - I'm so glad they are so close. I'm grateful for all the love and support I and they have received from our families and friends. We couldn't have done without you! Thank you! We love you! and I love my little girls.

Happy Birthday Malia and Kina!

it's a small world after all

I gotta tell this little story. After Wayne picked me up from the airport last week we were walking out together and we saw a young guy in a suit waiting all by himself with his luggage at his feet. Wayne whispered to me, "Poor guy. Looks like his ride forgot him. " We walked past him and kinda waved. He looked up at us and he looked soo familiar to me. I said to him, "Do I know you?" He said, "Habla espanol?" I said yes. Anyways, turns out he is from EL SALVADOR, I was good friends with him and his family on my mission, he got a mission call to Provo and the man that was supposed to pick him up never showed. What a small world huh! So, of course we told him to come with us. The only problem was he wasn't supposed to enter the MTC until Wednesday and it was only Friday. We decided he could stay with us if necessary, but just in case I called the MTC. The lady said to bring him in - they'd love to have him! So we took him out to eat (he loves Panda Express), he called his mom and told him "Hermana Lisa" (what they all called me there) had picked him up and then we dropped him off at the MTC. What a great day!

cinderelli

It feels good to be home! We all really missed Wayne while we were gone. I've decided the next trip we're taking him with us no matter what.

Anyways, we've been trying to get back in the swing of things around here. Last night, Malia finally got to her long list of chores. For some reason, she LOVES playing "wash dishes" . . . Ah, if she only knew. . . ha ha

papatime

One of the reasons we went to Hawaii was to see my parents. It was so fun to see them play together. Here's some of the favorites I found of my dad. . .

Ha ha! This last one especially makes me laugh. Love you Dad!

so many beach ones. . .

Inoke was very in awe of the blue stop signs.

This is how David spent his trip - fixing the roof and drawing a blueprint of the house. Kalofie.

papa and the beach

Yesterday, I took the girls to the beach with my Dad. Kina was a little tired so she chilled with me on the sand, but Malia was everywhere. She had a blast with her papa and I had a blast just watching them.

Love you Dad

some things i've loved about hawaii

My trip is not yet over, but I thought I'd better post some pics already. We've had so much fun here. . . so much fun I keep forgetting to take my camera places, but oh well. I thought these pics represented well some of the things I've loved about this trip so far. . .

The beach! Since Felicia passed and the rains have subsided, we've gone almost everyday. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to spend too much time working on my tan, but oh well. ha ha The first day Malia was a little apprehensive about the sand, but she got over it quickly. Now, they both love the water and like to chill right where the wave kinda fades away on the sand.

Our stroller brigade ha ha(Tali and Malia, Hazel and Ame, Harmony and Ahonui, Uila and Chloe, me and Kina). We take nightly walks and have had a few much needed GNO's. Love these girls!

Spending time with Maddox! Dave, Shan and Maddox are all here and it's so fun seeing these cousins grow up close.

Two words - Ted's Bakery

Three words - Matsumoto shave ice

The new PCC night show, HA. I LOVED this show! I came kinda prepared to dislike it because we were a part of the old show, Horizons, for so long and loved it so much, BUT it was totally amazing. Watching it made me miss dancing, but it was fun to see our old friends who are still there (David, Shan, Inoke, Tali, Terina, Pewa, Chantel, Ricki and me)

I love that the girls can just walk around in their diapers at all times here and that they are outdoors most of the time . . . and that if they get a little hot we can just dip them in the little pool to cool off. Daaaaaang Kina! Why the stink eye?

The FOOD! I came with a list of things I want to eat while I'm here, and have gotten to almost all of them. Needless to say, it's been great. I think this was some L&L's. YUM!

Cold showers and baths! I love it! So refreshing!

Mostly, I've just loved spending time with the girls and seeing them enjoy Hawaii. It's such a kids paradise and they love it here!

So far, so good! ha ha

match, set, game!

The last time I saw David play tennis was when he was in high school. Yesterday, David and his father-in-law, Howard, decided to play a little tennnis at the BYUH tennis courts (thanks Dillon!). Prize for the winner? Bragging rights of course. ha ha.

home sweet home

It feels so nice to be home! Like most of you know, I grew up in Laie AND Provo and I really consider both as "home". When I was young my family moved from Laie to Provo so my dad could attend BYU. We stayed there eight years then moved back to Laie and I lived here until I got married and moved back to Provo. Since we've been married we've only been able to make it back a few times (STILL trying to talk Wayne into working at Delta. . . ha ha). While I feel at home in Provo (and I love it:)), I'll always consider Laie as my HOME.

I love it here. Love the people. Love the food. Love the culture. Love the weather. Love the ocean. I love my friends and family here. Really, it's such a special place. Feels so good to be home!

happy birthday to me

We're here! Our first day in Hawaii was my birthday! Number 28 to be exact. . . yikes! Doesn't that sound old? ha ha. Anyways, Wayne small kine celebrated with me the day before in Utah and we celebrated small kine over here too. Highlight of the day? Seeing some long lost friends and eating carrot cake from Ted's Bakery! (my FAVORITE!) Yummy!!

This year I want to be better than I was last year - more righteous, more kind, more motherly, more academic and more healthy! (I'm working on it) ha ha.

Reunited and it feels so good! ha ha

it's a zoo out there!

We went to Hogle Zoo in SLC on Friday. We got to go with Wayne AND Wayne's dad and we LOVED it! It's an awesome zoo - all the animals seemed happy which was nice since I've been to zoos where the animals seemed sad. ha ha. That sounds off, but you know what I mean? Anyways, it was a first time visit for me and the girls, but it definitely won't be our last. It was a great day!

My little cubs

All the photos of me and Malia turned out like this because Malia wouldn't turn away from the animals even for a second to snap a pic. (Sigh!) Oh well. ha ha.

This little baby giraffe was ONE day old! It's mother was super protective. I don't know why, but when he walked out I got a little teary. I was like, "Life is just so amazing!" Wayne was like, ". . . are you pregant?"

The zoo train. Malia and Kina loved it!

I love this pic of Malia.

Look!

Kina's favorite thing to do when she saw the animals was grunt.

Rooar!! Malia showing Daddy the sound a bear makes.

Two of our favorites - the elephants and the zebras!

Malia made a friend! You can't see it very well, but she's kissing the glass. Nice.

A great day at the zoo!
