it's a work of art!

Ever since I moved out of my parents house and into my own, I've wanted to have some of my dads artwork on my walls. My favorite piece of his is the mural he made for the Convention Center in Waikiki. It's a 30 foot long ceramic tile mural of the Hawaiian imu.
I love it because it shows all the trees and plants of Polynesia - the plumeria tree, pandanus tree, coconut tree, banana tree, a taro patch , ti leaves etc. I love the colors he used and I love the symbolism of the dark figures. My dad said he made them that way because people who serve are faceless - they don't do it for the recognition or thanks, they do it simply, for others. I also like it cause it makes me hungry!

After 1 trip to Kinkos, 3 trips to Home Depot, a few visits by David (who made the beautiful frame - thanks Davey!) it is finally done!! We put it up in our dining room and I love it! What do you think?
