byu luau 2010

Tuesday and Wednesday was BYU Luau! Rehearsals began back in January so I was very excited for the day to finally arrive. I loved the theme for this year - He Huaka'i Aloha - A Journey of Love and Sacrifice. The show was about the journey of the restored gospel to all the islands of the pacific. Don't want to sound corny or anything, but hearing the stories of how each these early islander saints received and accepted the gospel totally strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ. I loved having a theme that was so meaningful - it was beautiful.

I danced in the New Zealand and Tonga sections and was also asked to MC the show. I had a great experience!

Apparently I missed the message we were going to pukana for the pic

We did a hula show for the luau BEFORE the luau
- it was a PCC/Laie reunion. ha ha

Taahine Tonga - Kalo, me and Elsie

Our AWESOME Tongan section. Cheehoo!!

Tessi, Lokahi, Sam, Crystal and Kawehi
The show was so good this year because of the amazingly talented instructors of each section. Great job guys
!

Aaafter the show - so happy the show was OVER and was such a success!

Participating in Luau was a great experience for me. It was a little weekly exercise and a sweet small diversion doing something I enjoy. It was also nice to spend time with some friends I don't get to see everyday. I'll always love dancing and performing and am grateful for this opportunity to be part of something so fun.

And this was taken this morning after Malia and Kina found the bag with my costumes in it.
Love it!!

I loved luau this yr! You did such a great job MCing Mary! I especially loved the NZ, Tongan, and Tahiti sections. :) Malia and Kina are so cute in the Tongan costumes lol. I have to admit, Tonga's costumes were my fave. :) Great job!

Thanks, Mary!

Those pictures totally took me back to the good old PCC days!

What fun, Mary! And how meaningful for all of you offspring of the early islanders.

That's real "heart stuff"!

And of course I love the pictures of Malia and Kina in their costumes!

How precious they are.

OK-so if my memory serves me right-I do remember a previous BYU Luau post about how one year you were preggos w/Malia and how the next year you were preggos w/Kina and no one knew. So was this a preggos year or a not-preggos year? hahaha j/k
Luau was awesome! you all did a great job. Tonga was the best by far. Absolutely loved it.
