help

I've been trying to wean Kina from breastfeeding since the end of August (the 21st to be exact - her 1st birthday) and I can't do it. I went down to one feeding for a while, but I'm back up to three. Aargh! I'm weak and give in to her too easily. Any advice?

It is hard to ween.... they love it so. You could try making sure she is really full of good nutritional food and has had lots of other fluids so she doesn't really NEED to breastfeed. . On the other hand, since she was a premie, she may benefit from any additional days she is breastfeeding. Are you sure you won't miss the convenience? Or you could conveniently be gone during feeding time and have someone else give her a drink, sing to her, rock her, etc. Sometimes imitating the snuggling part helps so they are getting that just not getting the milk.

Hope those ideas help. Didn't I ever give you a Womanly Art of Breastfeeding book? There are some up at the house on Apache. Good luck! Love you guys. Mom

I don't last past 6 months. I want my freedom too much. I just keep trying them on the bottle with formula and they just get to the point where they're too hungry and just drink a whole bottle. As soon as that happens then that's it. They're off. I'm so mean! Don't get me wrong, I love breastfeeding but after 6 months I think they'll be alright. :)
